Safety and Environmental

Arrowhead’s leadership has set the standard for environmental stewardship and our adherence to strict safety and environmental standards mitigate our customers’ risks and liability.  It is also of the utmost importance to protect our employees and the general public from accidents at our facility. All employees, customers, contractors, and visitors working at or utilizing our facility MUST adhere to our safety policy and procedures.

Environmental Protection

Modern landfills like Arrowhead Landfill feature multiple layers of groundwater protection including a compacted clay liner, a 60 mil HDPE liner, and an extensive drainage system to remove rainwater and liquid from the waste 24-hours a day.  Modern landfills also feature groundwater monitoring systems and methane gas detection systems.

Ideal Location Over Selma Chalk Formation

Arrowhead is located over one of the most impermeable naturally occurring clay formations in North America.  EPA specifications require that Subtitle D landfills are designed to adequately contain waste and provide a barrier between the groundwater through a sophisticated liner and leachate collection system.  At our site, hundreds of feet of Selma Chalk provide an added bonus layer of protection between the lined Subtitle D facility and groundwater, making Arrowhead one of the most environmentally sound disposal facilities in the nation.
